The union charged that Ford mechanic SMAT Argentina sent 330 telegrams of notice of layoffs to reduce its staff of employees starting next May 1, when it curiously celebrated Labor Day.
The union secretary Ricardo Pignanelli will this evening confirmed that a meeting with company directors in the Ministry of Labor, where it is expected that the Government intervene to avoid layoffs.
Pignanelli called halt any plans for dismissal and suspension until the end of the year, waiting to see how the market reacts against programs to encourage the sale of cars launched by the Government.
